The UN Global Compact

The UN Global Compact is a voluntary initiative based on CEO commitments to implement universal sustainability principles in human rights, labor, the environment and anti-corruption and to take steps to support UN Sustainable Development Goals. The UN Global Compact is the largest sustainability in the world with over 10,000 committed companies in over 160 countries.

In 1999, Kofi Annan, addressing business leaders and industry heads, called for a “Compact” between business and the UN to “put a human face on the marketplace”. The following year, the UN Global Compact was created and it adopted 9 Principles of the UN Global Compact, with Principle 10 on Anti- Corruption added in 2005. In 2015 the UN Global Compact committed to mobilize business to achieve the Global Goals
