Accra, Ghana – 20 September 2026 – The UN Global Compact Network Ghana brought the Global Africa Business Initiative (GABI) – Unstoppable Africa 2026 conversation to Accra, convening business executives, sustainability leaders and strategic partners for the Unstoppable Africa (GABI): Ghana Executive Networking Cocktail at the Mövenpick Ambassador Hotel Accra.
Held under the theme “Unstoppable Africa 2026: Powering Business, Scaling Economies, Shaping the Future,” the event connected Ghana’s business community to the high-level conversations taking place at Unstoppable Africa 2026 during the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
The gathering combined a curated broadcast of proceedings from New York with an executive networking reception and fireside chat, providing a platform for business leaders to engage with emerging global commitments, market opportunities and policy directions while strengthening connections across Ghana’s private sector and development community.
Connecting Global Conversations to Ghana’s Private Sector
Unstoppable Africa, convened under the leadership of the United Nations Secretary-General through the Global Africa Business Initiative, positions the private sector as a key engine for sustainable growth, investment and implementation across the continent. The Ghana Executive Networking Cocktail sought to translate these international conversations into actionable corporate strategies and opportunities relevant to businesses operating in Ghana.
The programme featured distinguished leaders’ statements from Sanda Ojiambo, Assistant Secretary-General, United Nations Global Compact; H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, Chairperson of the African Union Commission; and H.E. António Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations.
Delivering the welcome address, Mrs. Adaku Ufere-Awoonor, AESTAP Technical Lead, Sustainable Energy for All (UNOPS) and Board Member of the UN Global Compact Network Ghana, welcomed executives and partners to the gathering. She highlighted the work, credible sustainability and the private sector innovation of the UN Global Compact aligned to the Sustainable Development Goals. “The companies that build sustainability into how they actually operate are the ones that will attract the capital, weather the shocks, and lead the next decade of African growth,” she noted.
Mr. Tolu Kweku Lacroix, Executive Director of the UN Global Compact Network Ghana, subsequently delivered reflections on Unstoppable Africa 2026, bringing the global conversation into the context of Ghana’s private sector. He highlighted Africa’s role in politics, business, sports and culture and how they all play a role in the development of the continent. “We have the opportunity to see businesses, investors all over the world come together for one single reason – and that is to promote Africa’s future and prospects,” he said.
An “Unstoppable African” Conversation
A key feature of the evening was the “Unstoppable African” Fireside Chat with Ziad Hamoui, President of Borderless Alliance. The session formed part of the programme’s focus on engaging business leaders around Africa’s economic future and creating opportunities for dialogue and connection.
The fireside chat was followed by executive networking, creating space for participants to build connections and explore opportunities for collaboration. The broader objective of the event was to connect forward-thinking corporate leaders, unlock cross-sector partnerships, trade opportunities and sustainable investments, while recognizing private-sector contributions to Ghana’s socio-economic development.
The evening was moderated by Caleb Kudah, Development Journalist at Citi FM/TV and Co-producer of CitiCBS, with Rhoda Boateng, Program Manager, UN Global Compact Network Ghana, delivering the closing remarks.
From New York to Accra: Turning Dialogue into Action
Beyond providing access to the global Unstoppable Africa conversation, the Ghana Executive Networking Cocktail sought to strengthen the link between international policy discussions and actionable corporate strategies in Ghana.
The gathering also provided an opportunity to advance corporate commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact, while fostering partnerships capable of supporting sustainable investment and inclusive economic growth.

The event brought together over 40 C-suite executives, Managing Directors, ESG Directors and strategic partners, reflecting the importance of business leadership and collaboration in shaping Africa’s sustainable economic future.
